HP opens first wind-powered datacenter
HP just opened the first wind-powered datacenter in Billingham, England where the outside temperature only rises above 24 degrees celcious 20 hours a year. External air is sucked in via air intakes, filtered and forced up through the floor, run over server racks before exhausted. Air conditioning is the largest cost component in the operation costs of a datacenter and it make perfect pound sense to use wind cooling. Read more
